A deep dive: Bri-Mac’s Range of Standard Bearing Housings
At Bri-Mac Engineering, we understand that one size never fits all. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of standard bearing housings, each engineered for strength, durability, and low-maintenance operation. Approved by leading global industries, including the French steel sector, our housings are trusted around the world for their robust performance.
Let’s take a closer look at the ranges we supply.
443000 Series Bearing Housings
The 443000 Series is one of our most established and trusted housing designs, with options tailored for different operating environments.
- 443000 (020 & below)
Designed with robustness in mind, these housings are particularly well suited for the iron and steel industry. They deliver exceptional strength, even under high impact. They feature a split plummer block design that accommodates spherical roller bearings on adapter sleeves, ensuring secure alignment and long service life. Supplied with rotary shaft seals and split seal retainer plates, they reduce maintenance costs and deliver trouble-free operation.
- 443000 (021 & above)
This range mirrors the same features as the smaller 020 and below. Both are industry approved, tested, and trusted across heavy-duty steel applications, providing the durability demanded in the harshest conditions.
In both ranges, customers can specify modifications because at Bri-Mac Engineering, we pride ourselves on meeting special requirements where standard solutions need to go further.
444000 Series Bearing Housings
The 444000 Series continues our focus on serving the iron and steel industries with housings designed for heavy-duty, high-impact applications. Like the 443000 Series, they are approved by the French steel industry, giving customers confidence in their quality and performance.
With solid bases and feet for added strength and the same split plummer block design to house spherical roller bearings, the 444000 Series combines robustness with practicality. Rotary shaft seals and split seal retainer plates are standard, ensuring extended service life with minimal maintenance.
The series is offered in two ranges: 014 & below, and 015 & above, both engineered to the same high standards but sized to meet different operational needs.
SDJ Bearing Housings
Moving up in size and scale, SDJ Bearing Housings are heavy-duty plummer blocks designed for the most demanding industries. They are usually very large!
Heavy ribbed construction allows them to handle loads acting at right angles to the foundation surface, making them ideal for steel mills, crushers, and cement plants. They are compatible with 231 series spherical roller bearings on adapter sleeves, with flexibility to modify for other series.
SDJ’s are available in both locating and non-locating arrangements, they give engineers the choice and adaptability required in complex systems. They are designed for grease lubrication, though they can be adapted for oil lubrication applications.
SDT 3100 Cast Steel Bearing Housings
When the application calls for something even tougher, the SDT 3100 Series delivers. Manufactured in cast steel, these housings are designed for heavier vertical loads.
They incorporate an oil well to one side of the bearing, which acts as an oil bath, with optional grease points and labyrinth seals for enhanced protection. For blank shaft end applications, a steel end cover is supplied as standard, and where extra resilience is required, customers can specify solid base designs.
For extreme environments, taconite seals can be fitted to give maximum protection against dust, water, and other contaminants.
SD 500 Bearing Housings
The SD 500 Series are also split plummer block housings, designed for spherical roller bearings with adapter sleeves. These housings are versatile, handling vertical loads effectively and providing oil wells on both sides of the bearing for oil bath lubrication.
As with the SDT range, grease points and labyrinth seals can be added, and blank shaft ends are easily managed with steel end covers supplied as standard.
SDG Bearing Housings
The SDG Series completes our range of standard housings, offering exceptional reliability for the heaviest applications, including mining, cement, rolling mills, and crushers.
They too have a split plummer block design, available with covers for closed or through shafts and also suitable for spherical roller bearings, mounted either on adapter sleeves or directly onto shafts.
With features like bolted covers for larger housings and customisable sealing options, the SDG range is proof of Bri-Mac’s commitment to engineering solutions that work in the toughest environments.
THDS (Take-Up) Series – Steel
Another fantastic housing for discussion is the THDS Take-Up Series is designed for applications requiring both strength and adaptability.
Constructed from high-quality steel, these housings provide robust support in heavy-duty operations while accommodating variations in shaft alignment. Their take-up design allows for precise adjustment, ensuring optimal tension in conveyor belts, industrial drives, and other mechanical systems. Built for durability, reliability, and low-maintenance operation, they’re a trusted choice across demanding industries.
SOFN Bearing Housings
We have many options for many industries, all coming with great experience and expertise.
SOFN 200 oil ring lubricated bearing housings are engineered for spherical roller bearings operating under high speeds and elevated temperatures. Frequently used in fans, flywheels, power installations, and cement works, they are suitable for shaft diameters from ø49mm to ø240mm and can be supplied for locating or non-locating bearing arrangements.
Standard Grey Cast Iron construction is available, with Cast Steel or SG Iron options for higher-strength requirements, and water-cooling pipework can be integrated for very high temperature applications.
UCT (Take-Up) Series – Steel
We can build these in any size, making this a great option for many businesses.
UCT Take-Up Series housings are built to handle vertical and horizontal movement in heavy-duty systems.
Designed for self-aligning ball bearing inserts, these high-performance housings offer superior durability compared with cast iron alternatives., Bri-Mac can manufacture them in cast steel or cast stainless steel, providing both strength and cost efficiency. Their robust construction ensures long service life even in the most demanding industrial applications.
